Ariège Pyrenees Photo Gallery by Matt Phillips

View from Calames, Bedeilhac et Aynat, Ariège Pyrenees, France.

Calamès View captures a sweeping Pyrenean landscape from the slopes of Calamès mountain in Bedeilhac-et-Aynat, looking out across the lush valley towards Surba. Under a deep blue sky with only the lightest brush of cloud, the scene opens out to reveal scattered trees, open green spaces, and clusters of houses nestled within the valley. The view stretches further into the distance where the town of Tarascon-sur-Ariège appears, its rooftops just visible at the far end of the valley.

To the left, a rugged mountainside dominates the frame, textured with exposed rock and dotted with small, hardy trees clinging to the slope. Beyond Surba and its valley, additional layers of mountains rise and fall, creating a rhythmic landscape that leads the eye toward a distant chain of peaks on the horizon. This photograph celebrates the depth, drama, and natural beauty of the Ariège Pyrenees.
