Waddesdon Manor House & Gardens Landscape Photo
Landscape Photo Gallery by Matt Phillips
Waddesdon Manor House & Garden in Buckinghamshire, UK.
I captured this photo of Waddesdon Manor and its magnificent gardens, located near Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. The grand house, built for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in the late 19th century, sits in the heart of a beautifully landscaped estate of formal parterres, vibrant bedding displays and sweeping parkland.
On the day of the shoot the gardens were alive with colour — the intricate floral layouts of beds edged by box hedges, seasonal blooms in their full summer display, and the majestic architecture of the manor itself rising behind the lawns. The combination of structured garden design and expansive countryside setting gives this estate a unique character, blending Victorian horticultural artistry with the natural beauty of the Buckinghamshire landscape.
Waddesdon’s gardens are celebrated for their historical design, the impressive scale of planting and the way the house and grounds integrate into their surroundings. I focused on capturing both the architecture and the garden textures together — the stone façades, the vibrant flowers, and the play of light across the scene all come together to illustrate the heritage and beauty of one of Buckinghamshire’s most iconic landscapes.
